We invite you to participate in trainings for foreigners living in Poland who want to be active in their community and help others find their place in the Poland.

ACADEMY OF CULTURAL EDUCATORS

What is the Academy of Cultural Educators?

  • a multi-stage training preparing for work as an intercultural educator
  • 77 hours of workshops and individual consultations
  • 8 meetings that will take place from March 2021 to June 2021

Who can take part in the Academy?
Training is aimed at foreigners living in Poland, who speak Polish well, and want to gain knowledge and skills enabling them to work as cultural educators.

What should I do to complete the Academy?
To complete the Academy participants are obliged to actively participate in at least 5 meetings, as well as plan and facilitate a workshop or cultural event for a selected local community.

How much does the Academy cost?
Participation is free of charge.

When will the Academy take place?
Classes are held from March 2021 to June 2021

How can I take part in the Academy?
The application process for the Academy of Educators has already closed.

 

The Academy of Cultural Educators is organised within the project „Poland is our common home”, implemented with a grant from the Active Citizens Fund – National programme, financed by the EEA Funds.

ACADEMY OF CULTURAL MENTORS

What is the Academy of Cultural Mentors?

  • multi-stage training for adult foreigners, preparing them to work as a cultural mentor
  • 105 hours of workshops and individual consultations
  • 8 meetings (1 one-day and 7 two-day trainings)

Who can take part in the Academy?
Classes are aimed at adult foreigners who want to help others function well in Poland and integrate with the Polish society. Participants will learn how to develop contact, communication and mutual understanding between foreigners and the local community, as well as how to actively solve the problems of their group.

What will I learn during the Academy?

  • about the democratic system in Poland, human rights and the principles of the civil society;
  • about Polish institutions, the legal system, healthcare and education systems;
  • about additional support that foreigners can obtain;
  • what are the values, norms and behaviors in Polish culture and what minorities live in Poland;
  • about intercultural differences, barriers in intercultural communication, ethnocentrism, stereotypes and prejudices;
  • psychological knowledge about adaptive stress, acculturation, psychological consequences of migration.

During the training participants will meet with experienced intercultural mentors who will talk about their work.

What should I do to complete the Academy?
To complete the Academy participants are obliged to actively participate in at least 6 meetings and write a final thesis on a selected topic on integration or self-advocacy of foreigners in Poland.

How much does the Academy cost?
Participation is free of charge.

When will the Academy take place?
Classes will take place from August 2021 to June 2022

ACADEMY OF YOUNG ACTIVISTS

What is the Academy of Young Activists?

  • workshop for young people from migrant and refugee families (14-18 years old)
  • meetings with authorities and representatives of institutions/organizations working in the field of human rights.

Who can take part in the Academy?
Workshop is for young people at the age 14 – 18 who want to be active in their community. Participants will learn how to facilitate social activities and how to talk about the needs and difficulties of their peers. They will also get inspiration and knowledge on how to express their own opinion, strengthen self-confidence and assertiveness.

What will I learn during the Academy?
At the end of the workshops, each participant will create their own plan of self-advocacy activities and will receive feedback and support in taking further steps.

Participants of the classes will meet a foreigner actively involved in social life in Poland, as well as representatives of institutions/organizations working in the field of human rights and civil society.

How much does the Academy cost?
Participation is free of charge.

When will the Academy take place?
Workshops will be organized in between July 2022 and October 2022, in the form of one-week summer camps.
