Appeal to the EU commissioner Ylva Johansson

On Thursday, September 30, a meeting is to be held between the EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson and Mariusz Kamiński, the Polish minister of internal affairs. They will talk about the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border.

Observing the communication strategy of the Polish government, we have considerable doubts that Ylva Johansson will receive a complete picture of the situation at the border. That is why, before the meeting, we delivered a letter addressed to her, in which we describe examples of illegal and inhuman practices of Polish border guards and call for raising the issue of human rights violations and risking the lives of refugees by our services during the conversation with the Polish authorities. We also encourage dialogue with non-governmental organizations that intervene at the border almost every day, trying to save lives of people trapped there – men, women and children.

The entire letter is available HERE.
